St. James Players presents Pied Piper: The Musical, their annual spring family production, in the auditorium of St. James United Church (221 Romaine St., Peterborough) this weekend.

First-time director Drew Mills brings together a large cast of primarily child actors for a fun show filled with big personalities, high energy performances, and a hint of pantomime — highlighted by Terry Convey’s mysterious yet good-natured performance as The Pied Piper of Hamelin.

Adapted from the 16th-century Germanic folk tale by Vera Morris, with music by Bill Francoeur, Pied Piper: The Musical maintains the core story while creating some fun original characters and changing the finale to a happy ending.

The cast includes Terry Convey, Aiden Playford, Amelia Hansen, Emma Poley, Faith Morales, Franny Milner, Jim Mills, Kaitlin MacMillan, Lawrence Emery, Emma Flindall, Kenzie McCallum, Mackenzie Airhart, Mike Watson, Sopie Wigglesworth, Tami Whitley, Tori Taienger, Victoria Pinnegar, Victoria Windrem, and others.

A great production for kids — both on the stage and in the audience — to get their first taste of community theatre, Pied Piper: The Musical is perfectly priced and paced for families. Most of all, you get to support an excellent young cast of performers who will make up the next generation of Peterborough’s theatrical landscape.

A truly fun show, Pied Piper: The Musical opens on Friday, April 24th at 7 p.m. and continues with two shows on Saturday, April 25th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., with a final show on Sunday, April 26th at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $9 for adults and $8 for seniors and students and are available at the door or from members of the cast and crew.
