On Wednesday, July 15th, 2015, you can “Paint the Town Red” by visiting one of 22 restaurants, pubs, and cafés in Peterborough area in support of the United Way of Peterborough and District.

This is the third annual fundraiser organized by Michael VanDerHerberg, co-owner of the Silver Bean Café in downtown Peterborough with his wife Andrea. Last year, participating restaurants in Peterborough raised over $15,000 for the United Way, almost doubling the amount raised during the inaugural event in 2013.

Each of the 22 restaurants participating this year will give 25% of their net sales for the day to the United Way of Peterborough and District, which provides funding to 26 community agencies to help people move out of poverty and to build strong and healthy communities.

You can “spread the red” by ordering food (or a scoop or three of ice cream at Kawartha Dairy) on Wednesday, July 15th at one of the participating restaurants. While you’re there, please thank the restaurant owners or staff for their generous support of the United Way of Peterborough and District.

If you have any questions, you can get in touch with Michael VanDerHerberg at vanderherberg@gmail.com.

You can also follow the United Way on Twitter @unitedwayptbo and tweet your photos using the hashtag #PaintPtboRED to show your support.
