Music legends Kris Kristofferson and Gordon Lightfoot join The Hawk at his Stoney Lake studio

Local musicians join icons for a secret recording session

Music legends Kris Kristofferson and Gordon Lightfoot joined Ronnie “The Hawk” Hawkins at Hawkstone Manor, Hawkins’ home on Stoney Lake in the Kawarthas, for a secret recording session.

Other musicians — including some well-known local performers — were also there, including Robin Hawkins (Ronnie’s son), Leah Hawkins (Ronnie’s daughter), Ryan and Sam Weber (The Weber Brothers), James McKenty (The Spades), Steve Kendry (The Spoons), Melissa Payne, Greg Keelor (Blue Rodeo), Theresa Mackenzie, Buzz Thompson, as well as members of The Sadies according to reports on social media.

Local chef Eric Mckibbon cooked for the musicians according to his Facebook post:

“What a pleasure to cook for Kris Kristofferson, Gordon Lightfoot, and the Hawk on Stony Lake with dinner music by members of Blue Rodeo, The Sadies, the Spades, and the lovely Melissa Ann Payne,” he writes.
